Iraq

The war in Iraq has now lasted longer than World War II, and we should continue bringing home our men and women in uniform. It’s time to honor these men and women for their dedication and bravery, and it’s time to do everything we can to help them heal and restart the lives they put on hold.

We need to responsibly return full control over their country to the elected Iraqi government.  We should not have any permanent military presence in Iraq, and we need to move with judicious haste to transfer responsibility for day-to-day security to the Iraqi police and national army.

By removing Saddam Hussein from power we gave the Iraqi people an opportunity to form a representative government, but ultimately the success or failure of that government must be their responsibility.
